2020 has been one of the worst years for humankind. Here is a list of some famous names who left us this year.


Sushant Singh Rajput (21 January 1986 – 14 June 2020

At the age of 34, this Bollywood star left India in shock after his body was found at his home at Mumbai's Bandra on June 14. From portraying former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni to the legendary fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi, Rajput starred in several popular movies.

The Kannada star, who belonged to a family of actors, died on June 6 at the age of 39 due to cardiac arrest.

Wajid (right), the younger son of famous tabla player Sharafat Ali Khan, passed away on May 31 due to complications arising from renal ailment at the age of 42. The Sajid-Wajid duo was a household name in India.

Basu Chatterjee (10 January 1930 – 4 June 2020)

The famous screenwriter and director passed away at the age of 90 on June 4. He would be remembered for delivering several commercially hit movies throughout the seventies and the eighties, including 'Chhoti Si Baat' and 'Chameli Ki Shaadi'.

Nimmi (18 February 1933 – March 25 2020)

The actress made it big in the Indian cinemas during the fifties and sixties including India's first technicolour film 'Aan' and 'Mere Mehboob'. She passed away on March 25. She was 87.

Honor Blackman (22 August 1925 – 5 April 2020)

The Bond girl who starred opposite to Sean Connery in the 1964 spy movie 'Goldfinger' died on April 5 at the age of 94. Her other popular films include 'A Night to Remember' and 'Shalako'.

Kobe Bryant (23 August 1978 – 26 January 2020)

Kobe Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers basketball star, died in a helicopter crash on January 26. His 13-year-old daughter was also died in the tragedy that shook the world. He was 41.

Irrfan Khan (7 January 1967 – 29 April 2020)


Irfan Khan
Irrfan not only made his mark in Indian cinema but he also had global reach with films like Slumdog Millionaire and Life of Pi. After battling with neuroendocrine tumour for almost two years, he passed away on April 29. He was only 53.
